Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen says he is happy with the current situation and has no thoughts about a return to the Bundesliga.
Ter Stegen made his name at Borussia Mönchengladbach before moving to Barcelona in 2014, where he has now completed 10 years at the club, with his current contract running until 2028.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper was ask about the possibility of a return to the Bundesliga, particularly with a move to Bayern Munich to succeed Manuel Neuer.
He replied with a smile: “Wow! I still have a long-term contract with Barcelona. I am very happy there. My family is happy in Catalonia. I am only interest in this season, which I am focusing on.”
“You never know what will happen in the future. I don’t know if playing in Germany again is a goal for me in the future. We’ll see.”
“But overall, I’m happy with my situation and where I am at the moment.”
Ter Stegen was recently appoint as UFABET Germany’s new first-choice goalkeeper following Neuer’s international retirement and will be in goal for the team in the UEFA Nations League against Hungary on Saturday, September 7.
Ter Stegen is under contract at Barcelona until 2028. He could realistically end up continuing as first-choice goalkeeper until that time, although he’d surely have to stop the downward trajectory he has shown in the last year in order for that to be the case. Equally, he could decide sooner to return to Germany, if that is his wish.
